Der 1992 in Japan geborene Tenor Shimon Yoshida begeistert mit seiner außergewöhnlichen Stimme auf allen Kontinenten. In der Saison 2024/25 tritt er als Solist in renommierten Sälen wie der Philharmonie Berlin, Royal Albert Hall (BBC Proms), Pariser Philharmonie, Tonhalle Düsseldorf, Gewandhaus und Palau de la Música Catalana. Im April 2024 gab er sein US-Debüt als Solist bei der H+H Society in Boston mit Bachs h-Moll-Messe.

Sein Repertoire reicht vom Barock bis zur zeitgenössischen Musik. Primär widmet er sich jedoch dem Kirchenwerk Johann Sebastian Bachs, mit welchem er in Japan bereits in zahlreichen Konzerten aufgetreten ist.

Im Jahr 2022 sang Shimon Yoshida unter Leitung von René Jacobs als Einspringer in der h-Moll-Messe von Bach.

Im Oktober 2023 sprang er für erkrankten Tenorsolist kurzfristig ein und übernahm die Partie im Stabat Mater von Rossini. (Philharmonie Berlin, Großersaal).

 

2018 gewann der japanische Tenor beim Ⅸ Concorso Salvatore Licitra in Mailand einen Sonderpreis.

In der Oper war Yoshida als Manteau in Rameaus „Les Paradins“, als Nemorino in Donizettis „L’elisir d’amore“, und als Ferrando in Mozarts „Così fan tutte“ zu erleben.

Seit 2022 ist er regelmäßiger Gast beim Bach Collegium Japan unter der Leitung von Masaaki Suzuki/Masato Suzuki. Nach seinem erfolgreichen Debüt als Evangelist in der Johannes-Passion wird er 2025 dort in der Matthäus-Passion ebenfalls die Evangelistenpartie übernehmen.

 

Shimon Yoshida ist seit März 2020 festes Mitglied des RIAS Kammerchor Berlin und lebt mit seiner Familie in Berlin.

Biography (English)

Shimon Yoshida was born in Nagoya, Japan in 1992 and completed his master's degree in concert singing at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich with Prof. Sylvia Greenberg. His repertoire extends from the Baroque to the present. However, he is primarily dedicated to the church works of Johann Sebastian Bach, and has already performed them in numerous concerts in Japan. Yoshida has also sung in the oratorios of Handel and Haydn and in numerous masses by Mozart and Schubert. In 2022, Shimon Yoshida sang Bach's B minor Mass as a last-minute replacement for the tenor soloist under the baton of René Jacobs. In October 2023 he took on the role of Rossini's Stabat Mater at short notice for an ill tenor soloist (Philharmonie Berlin, Großersaal). In 2018, the Japanese tenor won a special prize at the IX Concorso Salvatore Licitra (Milan). In the opera sector he has appeared as Manteau from Rameau's Les Paradins, Nemorino from L'elisir d'amore, and Ferrando from Così fan tutte.

He has been a regular guest at the renowned Bach Collegium Japan under Masaaki Suzuki since 2022. Among other things, he sang various Bach cantatas as well as Handel's Messiah with him. In February 2024 he sang the role of the Evangelist and the tenor arias in the St. John Passion for Bach Collegium Japan. In April Yoshida debuts in the United States performing as a soloist in Bach’s B minor Mass in Boston.

In the 2024/25 season he will appear as a soloist in various halls such as the Philharmonie Berlin, Royal Albert Hall (BBC Proms), Paris Philharmonie, Tonhalle Düsseldorf, Gewandhaus and Palau de la Música Catalana.

Shimon Yoshida is a permanent member of the RIAS Kammerchor Berlin since March 2020.

He lives with his family in Berlin.
